A new dress for the holidays (vogue 8685)

On the photo:

Dress: Vogue 8685 in red knit Ponte

Scarf: Made by me, no pattern

Jacket: Ann Taylor, thrifted

Tights: H & M

Shoes: Impo

I think to resist me not in the position, the lure of the red and green come Christmas.  The year's dress was with vogue 8685 and knit a red Ponte from mood.  I felt very festive!

The dress pattern was very good draft - all the pieces together good fit, and the instructions were very clear.  Having said that, I have a few small quibbles.  First of all, the pattern for the binding calls sewing, then reflect inward and sew it down.  There is no way to knit - and this is not even a serious Ponte!  I left the neckline is turned outward, and on the armholes whipstitched I only the edges to the edges of the finished Corsair (it makes more sense, if you can see the pattern.)

It was a problem with the rock - due to the form the yoke, it was necessary to trim over 2 inches on the pages.  In any case the rock above line hang let you have to repair.  I think this is the first time I've ever had a rock, the real transformation required!  I used the hem marker on my dress form for the first time.

I like this dress, but I have a comment — I'm not really convinced that the shape of the bottom yoke is so flattering.  I took the best photo for my vanity, but it does highlight a trend, an imbalance in your figure.  Ideal for hourglasses, be careful, but if you have another form.  I prefer a dress which out - this torches becomes almost a dropped waist.

The scarf was super easy-I have several for Christmas gifts!  It is cut, sewn into a tube, rotated and closed by hand 22? by 2yards basically only a length of fabric.  Was very easy and good this year.

I hope everyone who celebrates had a nice holiday.  With my husband's parents we spent Christmas in Cincinnati.  I cantored mass of a beautiful old Catholic Church (one of my best friends is the Minister who are music and worship.

Dear old things that covers old churches.  Last week my Chamber Choir was their advent concert in a beautiful old downtown Church in Louisville, and this week I have to sing in this one.  I always love to see all the details in the old designs - churches now feel so sterile to me!

I have some fun end of year posts scheduled.  I have some shopping at fabric sales end year – already I am my spring sew schedule (this is normal for me-after Christmas, I'm too tired winter get.)  (Here's hoping for an early spring!)

Season's programmes greetings to you all (photo by Marc and I with a view of the skyline of Cincinnati on Christmas Eve to ground).
