For people with cats. Or Christmas trees.

Knit friends, I am just down for the count at the moment. Classification is sucking the life of me, daylight is almost not existent, I've barely started, gift knitting, I can come not going to run until implements the prickly anti ice for my shoes I bought in the post Christmas shopping let alone each, I am always Christmas Holiday Blues and I've delighted enough to dedicate to knitting ever let alone take pictures of them.

But that made me laugh.

I hope it makes you laugh.

Santa re styling

For those of you who do not believe that I actually have a Santa hat, a picture, go here you bought without seeing:

The sweater I left on a Bolero is that I finished some time ago. His spent three years in my closet, new old stock sit. I had a few holiday parties participate this past weekend and wanted to wear something festive and came this sweater in mind.

But when I the heavy glass button only tried it didnt ' work. So I it cut off and attached the fronts together with a scarf pin I at the Maryland sheep and wool years ago bought and have never worn.

Voila, new sweater. Or this is, what it feels like me.

It is now time for me, my tiny tabletop tree together and preparing for a family to start Christmas. Have everyone to celebrate a great holiday!

11-16-2010: to banish the demons

I woke up in a bad mood this morning, the decision last night that Cynthia Steffe pattern my muslin for the vogue not going to work.  It has eight(!) Sew inset corners in the Corsair Corsair feed, and I really hate those.  Thus was not great, but what really did the massive size of the sleeves - was even plissé asks how were the pattern a little overwhelming for my frame.  So I put it away (I'm planning to salvage the rock part once I some great get elastic for a bunch).  I'll start my string shirt dress instead.

To cheer me up I finished a few refashions from my pile (I Yes, change a backlog of things, to save the economy!)Here is the first:

Dress:Tokyo, thrifted

Scarf:Merona (current season)

Tights:Betsey Johnson

   Boots:UniSA

So it was dark and I had today, click rainy photos on the back terrace (which, if you'll notice falling caught is to remember, on this corner stand!)

This dress was thrifted back when I lived in Bloomington, such as eight years vor.Es is a thin T-shirt material out and has all the style of a bag potatoes, ernst.Es used to a sad little self have belt, but that has been long lost. For years, this was my dress funeral.Seeing part of my old job requires an average of a funeral week join me and this was safe and einfach.Ich almost got rid of it my last closet to clean (as thank God I don't have a crazy number of depressing funerals, participate) but I kept it, thought it might be worth a record fashion.

I cut 4 and a half inch way and has a Wavylettuce edge that paired hem Serger.Dann begins with a belt and some colorful accessories, the dress, some his funeral connotations!

Other thoughts:

I paid actually full price for these Schal.Wie I couldn't? it's Leopard print and one of my favorite colors!

I'm experimenting with colored Strumpfhosen.Ich likes the look with boots because it gives color without overwhelming.

Do I need to make some black clothes - you work as well as background, but are so boring to sew!

The crazy in progress

Are in the last few weeks I have the chance to go back to work on a small set of themes that I've had since the summer on the brain, and able in properly to sink, now, knitting the summer and early fall been done. It will be a set of 3 gloves/gloves in a mini collection, all with I Ndigodragonfly Merino/Kashmir/nylon in different weights.

All I really needed to go to Namen.Dieses project ideas were submitted itself in my brain Kim's lower classes back in may in the Toronto Knitter's Frolic, if I sports / DK a strand of MCN in deep one, called dark purple ' not another teen vampire movie', and then a little later took when I snagged a strand the MCN sock in a dark red 'Happy Goth.' called required clear, Gothic Somethingorothers, to be with them.

So I emailed to Kim and said: "hey, you know when I had finished a strand of MCN worsted spinning this set could, have a nice small Gothic mini collection going." And she said: "Oh yes, something dark and blue/green, perhaps for ounce.""certainly not Jacob.Oz." And so these gloves come marked in its color are good along "has Hootenanny - now it is full of hoot, just a bit of nanny."

In fact, we can be a bit crazy about this. But I'm willing to bet that we are not the single knitters about with characters from Buffy - the Vampire Slayer on the brain foot and it works just fine for design inspiration, so no matter.I'm still on the final pattern name pondering, but in my mind you are Drusilla, Oz and willow alternately (the vampire and Werewolf Witch quotas). And if nothing else,. great Merino/cashmere gloves and mitts for all.I enjoy this small project and I am aiming for a release winter if you all ready sind.Ich love easy knitting you so satisfying gloves are, at the end and are only to satisfactorily during faster to knit mittens.

In other news, I finished with the section Stockinette of my Elizabeth Zimmerman fair Isle yoke Cardigan, and am now thinking about the sleeves and the diversion of some Colourwork panels place down close to the Manschette.Es say here at knitting to stay sane, never boring I you what.

I hope to go well your warm and wintery knits! stay warm.

Butterick 5523

Pattern: Butterick 5523 (Muse dress) Size 8

Website:Dark teal Sophia Doubleknit fabric.com

Shoes:  Crocs (Macy's, current season)

Notes:Are OK to Butterick - enter! after 2 fails, I finally found a winning Butterick patterns.  The last 2 only bad decisions on my part were granted.  This dress has everything that a rolled me like a dress - collar, 3 / 4 length sleeves and an empire waist (controversial as you are, work on me for some reason.)

This dress was a very simple sew - I would say it was a 4-hour project.  I make no muslin (like me for rope.)What I do instead is the order of sew change.  I sew shoulders together, flat set in sleeves and sew then the rock pieces on the Corsair but I wait until the end, the side seams and the sleeve seam in one pass to nähen. So, if I must make adjustments that I don't have any overlapping seams.  I baste the side seams for the first time to see fit.  There I have to take 1/2? total pages (6 / 8 seams instead of 5 / 8 make.) decided in this case actually to fit but I wanted you sure that in case there be stretched.

The only thing that was long taken slip-stitching-down collar.  I recommend take your time and carefully pinning - dont you want to rotate it or it looks more like a habit (notice the pattern looks photo out as a CAP, but the fishing version (see below) is much clearer.)  Perhaps it would remain it to get a few extra stitches to clean to secure.   I actually managed to my right thumb does to charge the Handsewing on this dress (I have now found Handsewing does me worse than something...)  (I'm guessing there are not many tailoring in my future!)

A caution the Sophia knit was again very nice. - I found that I needed with the dark color, use to a press cloth to avoid shine iron (I made my own out of a square of silk Organza… it takes high heat well, but it is transparent.)The pattern was ok instructions for knits, because it actually realized that it need not zip!I don't know why all the BMV patterns tell Doublestitch your seams.I use a narrow zigzag on my regular machine.I rarely Serge knit I use my serger more running seams as all focusing pattern for finishing a bit short I took a narrow hem than is required, and I like this length, but I'm used to patterns that you more to play.

If I any criticism of the pattern is it looks ok, the back - I suppose, but I feel that there should be less netted or collects, that perhaps the depth change could. I have not the tab button Add but, it's not still only dekorative.Ich could even look me so I decided, it is worth noting that the model in the photos was better off without war.Es I actual Muse dress mighty funny in the rear view is, so I imagine the problem with the design, not the pattern ist.Es is no big deal for me anyway.

It don't is probably too warm for this dress today (it should be in the mid-1970s), but I care - I a night test in a cold Theatre, have so I would rather warm! this pattern is really strongly recommended - it's a great dress for the winter!

Tangent relating to knitting

There are some days, if, in spite of having a blog almost completely to knit, I come across other I can't help but want to; show something like a cool thing to find and need someone makes run, and say "LOOK, I this cool thing found", because your day find it better.

Sometimes things fans videos are edited together from the Harry Potter movies clips.

(Note: includes clips from the latest movie).

I love fans offers like these, the original text in the essence of what have to distill it ideal first makes - in this case the friendship and the inherent activity of daily bravery that these characters into not just admirable young have grown but admirable role models in the General people.

Stories like the Harry Potter series are powerful because you know that how a page at a time or see a scene to the next, there are millions of other people who do the same. And it makes me know (and then later confirmation) smile, the thousands (millions?) of the knitters watching these films are parsing worn to make the characters and/or reverse engineering sample out all beautiful knitted garments. Heck, I have my own hand knitted Ravenclaw scarf as a testament to that.

I don't think it is a surprise that started knitters to popular stories like this, and to bring your fan appreciation by their knitting to collect. I like that can be said the same about knitting, if such a bold statement - be allowed, knitting an engraving after the next means that to a group of people who do the same thing belong by engraving after the other, possibly with a certain courage in a world awaits you to your socks and sweaters of Wal-Mart, by a laborious, but know-dependent and may community building process craft over periods of weeks and months.

Here knitters - is fans and otherwise!

From the other side of Christmas

My first Christmas in southern Ontario spent this year – my sister and I went west instead to Edmonton, where our aunt and grandfather while our parents in Australia it celebrated the year abroad. It was a pleasant holiday - low key, mostly family, lots of food and very little Internet.

I finished my grandfather socks in the last time at lunch on Christmas day. There was even time, my aunt knit headband for a gift on Boxing Day, according to the hat, I had before two years made it.

Christmas dinner was a major issue with many cousins, and 4 generations of the same table.

My aunt cat enjoyed many new rounds to sit.

We paid even a visit to a few yarn stores - Ewe love it and River City yarns and I snagged a few nice strands of the things you dream projects.

And today we had before heading to the airport, a comfort food ish lunch the burger and milkshakes. Edmonton airport is only slightly nutty instead of full-on nutty and we are crossing fingers for a good connecting flight.

Catch you at Ontario end soon! I am looking forward to a bit more knitting and sitting holiday season before the new year rings. I hope your holidays are / were good.

Happy knitting!

11-17-10: More reworking

Jacket: Simplicity 2443

above:Crocs, thrifted

Rock:Vintage (1970s?)  Evan Picone thrifted rock, and shortened

   Boots:  Kensie girl

This rock was my most common economy stop for at least six Monate.Ich liked the color and pattern, but the length (Midcalf) was not good for mich.Ich it brought home as soon as I finally really started to change things.  I shortened from 12 inches (!) and replaced the buttons (one of them was broken.)  I find that I really love this type of rock for autumn (short girl with a high, equipped waistband.)

This outfit took me through: teaching, choir singing sample, a Latin mass and dinner and drinks with friends.

My friends have to so that started to really notice that I am starting my own clothes, and I regularly field questions about you, when I go out.Somehow I feel like I am you down when I wear something let fishing!Actually, I'm surprised, the reaction was how positive - I had a bit more snobbishness somehow expected, but my friends (who, admittedly, are artsy city types) seem to be in the idea.

I try to my posts a little (maybe!) spread outfit habenEs post gives a reason me more often observed and makes Wednesday less Stress. So far the experience was positive - I find myself to be very motivated, creative and not just throw on whatever.

I cut the muslin for my string shirt dress, but so far not have time to arbeiten.Ich a dress rehearsal tomorrow night, and a concert Friday, but after, I am from work for a whole week! I can't wait to see, how much can I reached over time.

Keep that thought

Back in September to the Kitchener Waterloo Knitter's fair I kept pure purple-l booth and had a small falling down on the twinkle soft chunky, disable on sale. I always had it looked longingly at the shop, think that "someday" would I buy it just a mess and whip out a few fast rope for instant gratification. But then I saw that I could lose the chance, so I bought five strands. How to do.

I thought that the time would come when I want to knit a few clunky things. It turns out that now it's time, when the cold quickly reaches negative double-digit and already my Berocco ultra Alpaca beret just isn't quite cutting it anymore. (Of course this winter is not fooling around.) Must make mediocre effort for the last year.) I knit first to a speedy wired beret, which is now out blocks and moved next to a large-ish crest of generic quality. (I turned around 76 m., and I am the whole thing work rib in error.)

The vast majority of my projects are on either fingering weight knit (know socks, gloves, scarves,) or worsted weight (sweaters, hats or really just about anything), so it is a rare day when I pull 10 mm needles. This is quite a trip. On the one hand, the stitches are huge, which means I am moving quickly without even trying, but on the other hand you are clunky and a bit cumbersome in your hands, if you not something greater than 4.5 mm on a regular basis are accustomed.

There is a change of pace if nothing else, that is also what I for. In all my other current projects it feels good to say, "STOP." YOU KNIT A HAT. OKAY, CARRY ON. "AS THEY WERE." And winter is definitely the most here, so hats and cowls R us.

Baby, it is cold outside. Thank you, yarn. I'm glad I have in my life.

Holiday parties

There is a distinct lack of sewing and blogging here this week.  We threw a holiday party types for my chamber group last night, so my week was consumed by planning and for cleaning.  Hosting parties always makes me nervous-I usually spend me nobody coming days convincing the affair and I will end up having to an entire crockpot of Swedish meatballs and a box consume, in advance wine all from me.  Fortunately the party was not actually get a success and I all meatballs, because you were so quickly consumed!  The Meatball recipe I use is always a hit and it takes about 15 seconds (minus the crockpot time!) to prepare

2 lbs frozen Meatballs (the best are the Swedish meatballs from Trader Joe's, but each frozen meatballs do.)

1 Can of Campbell's cream of mushroom soup

1 Tsp of Brown gravy mix

1 Cup water

Combine all ingredients in a crockpot and mix.  Set the crockpot for 6 hours and go way.  I generally avoid, everything with cream of something soup to do, but I swear, you, these are the best meatballs ever.  People believe never have been frozen.  Many people make BBQ meatballs for parties, but I've never liked those.  I put it instead!

Now, that the party is over, I can finish my holiday dress!

This only took me one day of sewing.  It is completed except for the hem - says the pattern, it hang let routes the bias and believe me, it is necessary!  The pages are much longer, by which the yoke piece possible.  I have comments about this pattern later but I like it.   I hope that have photos ready soon - I am Christmas Eve to this plan!

Corduroy shirtdress: vogue 8028

Pattern: Vogue 8028, show A

Website: Navy blue stretch cord (28 Wale) of fabric.com

To make cost: Cloth $12, pattern = $4, buttons $9 $ 25 total

Boots: Nine West

I have never existed, much thought to but lately I seem to be obsessed modest shirt dress with you!  This dress was inspired by the refined corduroy shirt dress in anthropology this season.  My dress has a few differences - the waist is plissé instead collected, and I don't choose bags add the bust.  Other than that I think, it's pretty close stuffed! This pattern the worst cover suffers drawings one yet, but it is really cute together!

A few sample comments I have a size 8 to top, 10 from the waist down.  It is not fixed but it is perfect with a belt.  I made the shorter length, but I are 4 inches away from the bottom still hacked - what is the level you make pattern exactly dress?  This was my first collar with a stand and it went pretty well - I made liberal use of some online tutorials!  I connected the necklace with plain muslin, but links the cuffs and button tape alone - this stuff is pretty stiff!  28 Whales is pretty good and it has almost a cotton velvet look.  I like not stretch in corduroy because a not drapey fabric makes it even worse, but it works pretty well for me here.  Pick it every piece of lint within a 50 mile radius up (that is, why no close-ups I ran leaves roller of lint today!)

I like this dress so much that I another in this matter:

Love this shirting.  This pattern is decent for plaids, because you have only to the Centre to meet.  The cuffs and collar will be cut bias.   Hopefully there will be this week as also stop.  I have a different shirt dress that I'm reworking (it's almost done, I need only a few matching thread for the hem) and at least one possible two more that I will make this winter.  I am happy, a basic shirt dress me equipped to have - it can be done in so many substances with different results!

Say "Hello"

The note there are no pictures on my camera and not much knitting wise happens. But I thought I'd show here and walk.

I took in my mind to try running. The last time I ran, was in law school. I bought a few running tights, moved on some creeps and headed out. Only just a few blocks from my apartment double pain from an evil side stitch. It was happening, I didn't know how to get rid of it and then just I gave the whole thing in disgust.

Turns out to breathe was the easy way instead of the shallow breathing deeply and to find out that I managed to 2.3 miles run my second time-out approximately 22 minutes without much difficulty. Of course, I bought some cute running shoes. We will see, how many times I decide to do this.

Five years Norma, written about the good things, that a Neti Pot for irritated nose and sinuses can do. Call me a slow learner, but I finally bought one and I completely agree with Norma. I thought it would be funny to use his, but fine.

After many years of having negative holiday spirit, I have been making a great effort benign this year in order-a positive, neutral, keep an I-no-hate-it attitude towards the whole Christmas. I mean, the holidays come, cannot be changed and I could also treat it with some grace and skill instead of being all "bah humbug".

I bought a Santa hat. Really.

To see the potential in thrifted dress in my Rainbow Rock: how

One of the most common comments I received on my Thrifting habit is "I would love thrift, but I only ever really ugly clothes in my local shops find."  Well... it is true that I have a few businesses that I like, but if you go to do convert each, have the potential of an item to see.  View trim shabby rib or ugly.  Sometimes a simple change to all you need do something fabulous again!  Case in point: this vintage Doncaster-rock.

Sorry for the terrible before photo, but I was impressed with the refashioning urge in the middle of the night, so I pulled this from my shopping cart.  The length was awful, and it really worked with the abundance around the hips - it makes me look much bigger than I am!  But I knew that Doncaster is a really nice, expensive brand (about a million years already), and the fabric of this rock was gorgeous.  It turns out, all that was required was a new border - after hack 6 inches and line, the wrinkles around the waist started, graceful hang rather than like a bag.  I wear it today and I love the bright colors!

It is a type of viscose, suiting very drapey and soft.  I think this rock from the 80s to be based on the color scheme, but it's hard to say for certain.  There is definitely no modern size - the label reads size 8, and this is less than a modern 8.  I am usually an 8 in clothing from this period.

Vintage shortening is controversial - some people really do not think you should.  There are some clothes I touch, not be especially really nice clothes from the 50s, but keep in mind that I never wear those!  I like this length.  I adapt other measurements.

I shop I go by color and pattern - I will always buy plaids and polka dots, and all colorful a porch light pulls me like a butterfly.  Think about it what colors and textures that you wear and when the economy to store clothes, full face to focus on looking after those pieces that same one, what you already have.  You need to consider not anything (although I look generally at every single dress just in case.)

I love my new rock and it took an hour perhaps to fix.  Give it a try!

Hit or measuring

When I was on these simultaneous and torn paths knitting things, and also design things other people might want to further am to knit I learn that sometimes there is a fine line between creativity and frustration. Sometimes I get hit with five ideas at once, and I love you to bits and pieces and cuddle and all you want to love, make as much as I do, but then I have no time to act on all of you at first and then the ideas have to wait and then I get impatient. Other times I find nothing to knit me not making a series of decisions affected are out before us, or ribs and new and the creative process begins walking around with A black Raincloud much look over my head. (Or that could only be current weather.) No matter what).

This weekend was such an opportunity/process for me. This month I me the task assigned to knit a fair Isle yoke Cardigan from Elizabeth Zimmerman's statements, knowing involvement Kammgarn knitting weight quickly and I the yarn ready in my stash all to go and therefore concerned was, that this should be pretty easy as far as my knitting life. But of course, because my brain knitting tends to reject things that seems too easy, I me the task assigned to inserting a fair Isle panel located near the cuffs on the sleeves, although this was not the original Anweisungen.Ich was also motivated to do so, on behalf of the Save yarn – I have a limited amount of the dark brown (main color) in use for the body and sleeves so inserting other colors on the sleeve is a way of extending the lifetime of the dark brown strands.

Nov22-EZsleeve1

Of course, this meant choice fair to go Isle motifs on the sleeves, and decide which colors for said subjects use loading (rather than wait until after the sleeve and body were done and make decision said after the yoke started). I procrastinated like CRAZY on this step. I let the sleeve cuff sit there barely started, for a week.I gave myself although I needed only 4-5, 9 different colors to choose the course it harder for me gemacht.Und then when in the voice that says "to make it better, make it more than that dummy" add even simple tasks are challenge. I try it in the end, after a couple and to convince me that it really completely is OK if it is pretty easy something and not seven different kinds of complicated, but really I probably about you agonized would have not so much if I also agonizing about other things not.

Nov22-WillowV1

Take this wee mitten cuff as Appendix # 2.It is a Mitt almost half, too and I really enjoyed that the subject on working on it, and I like more color. But the more I kept knitting it the more I began to rethink it and am not completely the convinced subject or even the matchup between the pattern of the lower classes the complexity of the stitch count for the fit.

So another thing, what a mess to get smart and restarted, and I will start again and it feels to be better for the second time around, but was end Sunday I really start, wish I had some knitting to turn that is not the whole fate of the project my choices überlassen.Und then, I realized that I do! I have such Projekt.Ich PI Schal.Die Stockinette have phase is hundred and Mumblety-Mumblety number of stitches simply and, eh, now in the five.

Nov22-PiShawl

And now I'm not sure whether I chaos actually prefer not.
Go figure.

No time for unfinished objects

I try as much as possible in this week to alternative activity with knitting work in an effort at the end of the month of December with less unfinished projects (or at least a different set of you) than what I have now. So I'm just about ready yoked on the yoke of my Elizabeth Zimmerman fair to start Isle sweater I had meant to complete in November, (although Lisa-reports that also chose, "Watch Novecember" when completing a project or two late, so cool.) (Novecember is my new favorite knitting needs).

So I was a fast hat and cowl that get done last week happy. I don't normally knit with Super chunky nothing but dang, always a slouchy cowl and beret from 3 strands of yarn in 2 days is fucking awesome. And because I had to go afternoon today with the post office and other annoyances I took the opportunity to get at least a quick photo shoot of the business. [And by the way, this almost Solstice Winter light is trippy.] [It's like there are three settings: (but anytime of the day), cloudy hell in the late afternoon or full darkness.]

The Beret is the speedy wired beret, amended, to add an additional cable repetition, so it really more beret-like as Cap-like. I blocked it out over a plate for good measure, and I am happy with the final result.

The CAP is just 76 m. error rib (Mutiples 4, work row 1: * K2, p2.) Row 2: * p1, K2, p1.), worked on 10 mm needles until I felt like it was a cozy enough height. It is quite nice all crumpled up to my neck under my coat at the moment, but I suspect decides to be slightly warmer than 15 ° C the temperature, I'll be comfortable wear it more loose and drapey. All in all not bad for a quick couple of winter accessories. I'll be extra satisfied I to me a few fed can manage gloves.

And, because it help a lot of snow on the ground around only here and I can me, here. A further Simons cat video just for the occasion.

Happy winter knitting!

Thrift store on Sunday

Buy because I find that I I declare rather after more often when I have a theme, I am, on Sundays to thrift store days - I what have I on my per Thrifting excursions point found, and give tips for better fuel economy.

If you face a large thrift store, I think to have best to know what you luck Thrifting. For example, search I always through the dresses, skirts and jackets.I almost never check out pants (which I hardly wear), and I give a superficial test only the tips (there are more tops than anything stores in most and I find often exhausted are or too short for me.)I look with by the slip selection because I love vintage slips and modern are not so pretty.

This week, I had great luck with clothes, and bought a further new Anstrich.Diese elements were all $5 piece.   I show only the elements that's pretty much how - I have to change some things, but I show those, will as I quit!

I actually found this coat by chance – it was document editing and another buyer saw it, looked at me and said: "this so cute you - would be here!"and threw it in my shopping cart.I think this happens quite often – there is a curious sense of camaraderie between the dedicated Thrifters! I love the velvet collar (in perfect condition!) and believe it or not, I plan a Peacoat.  It looks like the coat a button is missing, but it isn't - it seems to me that someone wanted a Doublebreasted Peacoat and so that it replaces all the buttons, neglect to realize that it is only a buttonhole (the button is sewed in including.)These buttons are cheap and I will in the age of the coat you with buttons, (I am place than the late of sixties:) befitting replace years early 1970s by this label)

I love this dress BCBG!  The pattern is very me and the fit is quite good (needs of the belt, but clothes without a seam waist always do to me.)

Sorry for the darkness I actually these photos - easier, but it is a gloomy day!  This dress is by Maggy London and it is a Petite.Es is actually a black band below, but it took me quite briefly on not Petite!I plan to wear it with leggings and boots as a tunic.Thrifting is a good time to experiment with shapes that normally would take nicht.Zum example: I wear typically would not that kind of the 60's style shift, because no Taille.Aber thats at least if this short so I'm actually really sweet happy to try it out!

The details are difficult to see, but this Ann Taylor has some really cute embroidered and collected details and a pretty eyelet hem dress. This color is for the summer as is, or work for the autumn with boots/tights and a jacket or sweater. It's a little big (Ann Taylor is a bad culprit in the vanity sizing I think) but only a bit - and with a belt, it fits perfectly!

Thats it for this week - I have to change a few elements, including a cute purple Plaid Shirt dress, but I'm going to send those once I my changes to stop.

This was a weekend - my Chamber Choir had their first full concert, which was a great success (we will have another right before Christmas, if any of my local peeps are interested... leave a comment and I'll the info.)I have this entire week! we are actually for the holidays instead of going to Cincinnati, though we have until one day will be I sew plans: my stop shirt dress (I used the muslin last night) and two sweaters from a Jalie sewing pattern.)I let out with this photo by Marc and I position for the concert (he is wormwood, drink which for some reason I do not understand, he even likes.)You will notice that I have not time dress to make, but I more different shoes that helped carry this.

I think the acoustics fries are best of New York

So I went over in Toronto for the weekend to the purple purl yesterday for your pre boxing day Christmas day sale. There were $5 bins, 50% off bins, 20% discount on everything ELSE. I bought some yarn, my sister embraces the stack of the thread and then value bought two sweaters, I saw all people who have been there sympathized with Jen, your ankle hung slipping on the ice just today morning had entwunden and still came and stand at checkout, and was constructed for a bit of fun and great.

And then I lost all my photos on my camera card.

Yesterday evening, when I, map was crappy card reader I had just bought and all files corrupted and I know, I may have not went to my photos from my camera photo yarn-hugged, not to mention the other Scadloads of photos I have copies of records of all the cute saved from. (Note to self: SAVE ALL THE COPIES.)

But since Monday type become YouTube day here, is here nearby. Instead of pretending to visualize photos of a yarn sale could you instead chorus flash mob video at this Hallelujah, which my mother sent me a link to. It is a not sucky start to the day.

And now if you'll excuse me, I have to go to nourish my disagreement over exactly how bad my Christmas knitting scored procrastination. I am here in the corner, if you need me.

Happy knitting!

Gradual but steady

I have this stage of the holidays where, despite the fact that my last relatively easy I, not everything that I wanted to do get done before Christmas, and I just have done things happen, is reached where you can compared to many others with enormous families, come the fact. Some of the cookies will post Christmas cookies. I'll finish the Lord of the rings may re-viewing on Boxing Day. I am getting on a plane tomorrow and be right there some nice key knitting time.

My grandfather travel socks only knitted gift, this is a real on my list, need and are probably the only one to be I, will be working days for the next. I started it yesterday (yeah, I'm Ahahaha a bit behind) between stirring the pot of caramel I had go attempting caramel marshmallows to make. (You know, because I somehow half the simple sugar recipe burned cookie but managed to caramel marshmallows just fine make?) (Yes, I know not either.) Needless to say, afternoon took basically all yesterday, but they are delicious. And a few small bags you will be talented, which is extra awesome.

I also so close in completion to my Elizabeth Zimmerman yoked sweater, the rental was have spend time on it this week in the scant few days that I am at the homestead in Hamilton, because there is a sewing machine and I have me by (my parents are living abroad this year in Australia, and my sister and I wear related in Edmonton for Christmas celebrate), which means I get to do, make things like caramels and when I ask Steeks, cutting now stuffed. (Und_ich_bin_wirklich_freuen_uns_auf_a) with a new winter sweater to wear as well as (b)) finally had completed of one of the current projects I have for a few months and will be able to move on to a new sweater or something else according to my whims stay.

I took save it back a week or after it neglect two years for a bit and it's just in the last days with the addition of fair Isle pattern interesting become, on the yoke. It has been the type of project, I see that not much of on the blog because it essentially amounted to a sequence of photos more Brown Stockinette knitting would have. But then, suddenly, poof, color work part came and I was worn to done. Button band and neckband are just go to basic ribbing, to be, which means the residential edge will be visible on the wrong side of the work (compared to a gefaltet-Over facing), so I chose to do a simple stitched reinforcement. I have a stitching line of stitches down each side of the center of steek…

cut... and exactly in the middle.

And that was. And done. I say Steeking is never old. And because this sweater is at once worked in the round all I have now is the particular lens pattern for the button band a few end to sew, and I'm done. It is of course, the little thing I forgot requiring that I sew buttons on the button band. But I am sure, that only a small question, right? Materialize buttons will somehow magically? Um…maybe? I'll be looking. And be sure that report back if it is done all for good.

Which stage the not livecams and knitting, madness, or both, you may be the right now, I wish you the best this week. And I'll all toast if I drink with my knitting later on tonight. And tomorrow. And probably Christmas and next day.

Happy knitting!

Thrift store Sunday

Thanksgiving weekend is apparently a great time to beat the savings banks.  The donation line was out the door (I think when people time way to clean out their closets have!)  I visited two stores this week, one in Cincinnati (my in-laws live), and the other in Indiana (I live downtown, so it is often easier, as dare to get in my city!)

The first store that I (visited in Cincy) was 50% off having clothes and it was madness!  Succeeded in some great finds of squirrels do throw my impression all saw potential in my shopping cart and then find a (relatively) quiet corner to sort.

Printed Cardigan Sweater (Ann Taylor.)  This is the last season I'm pretty sure that I remember.  It is a light, almost tissue knit.

I have to change, including a silk military style shirt dress from Talbot several clothes, I'm sure will be great when it's finished (I will photograph those for a change.)

The economy I in Indiana often went, has elements - the local objectives to donate what always not sold the last season target.  They all had blue tags, so you 50% off ($2.50) were this weekend.

"Tucker for target" designer collaboration, formerly this in stores in this case.  I bought two of them in various prints.  It is a polyester but it feels nice.  This dress works for most of the year.

Tokyo dress from this fall.  I don't love the slippery acetate material, but look at the cute shoulder arms!

Tomorrow: photos of my completed corduroy shirt dress.  I love it so much that I already started a second (in plaid shirting!)

Book review: Aran knitting

I have to keep a better pace than these people. I have 3 more books on the shelf for reviews and at the rate that I'll be on the last heard right as the new batch of spring publications are published. (Note to self: stop leave paid work to your knitting time to get.) (Where are your priorities?)

I was talking to discuss further and for my copy of the new and expanded edition of Aran knitting, sent to me by the fine folks at Dover publishing erreicht.Es is a beautiful book, make no mistake.

This book is two things: a collection of Aran style knitting patterns and a history/explanation of the origins of Aran knit. It has also shop have been flying off the shelves than from what I hear my fave Toronto is The Purple Purl already on your second order. There are good reasons why this is the case. The patterns are breathtaking. Originally released in 1997 and then allowed to go out of print this is one of Alice star Moreton's pattern collections that is highly sought after.I myself am excited on the Outlook on my own St. Brigid (ravelry link), for example, along with a few of the others make to can. There is a new a Eala Bhan is called in fingering weight and looks design and flickering in the waist beautiful and stylish - used in contrast to the other sweater - cables include,. In General, all patterns follow the Aran style of symmetrically placed panels cables, flat knitted.

It's the kind of collection, the Knitter's library is regardless of whether you plan very much at home in a, for one of the projects now anschlagen.Die time will come (at least, it often does for me, and I hope I'm not alone) a selection of adventurous wired rope for choose pattern that you really with skill and tradition in can sink. The collection in Aran knitting contains mostly jumpers, but also a few square scarves and caps. A few of the sweater decorated pieces unisex, which adds some versatility.

Star Moreton is a history of Aran knitting, I suspect that their real concern with this publication and republication is also a few dozen pages in the first chapters of the book is dedicated to. It is a presentation of very detailed research in which explains you how Aran knitting tradition in 20th century processes of production in the Scottish Islands is rooted, and is definitely not the same as 'Celtic' knitting (which by the way, you will know, is something you through another of their publications founded). There more than that, of course, and it's worth consideration. She want me very much the record on the origins of Aran knit sweater so I'm not sure whether you with people who know this is more affected, be the one as much as she wants to explain it to you.

I feel some sympathy for you at this point, because although you breathless tries to convince your readers, Aran knitting and Celtic knitting emphatically not are the same thing, I can predict pretty quickly that this misunderstanding still persist soll.teilweise because, quite simply, many people read the book first and foremost for the patterns alone and only skim the surface of the historic in writing; The patterns are beautiful and are value, the price of the book in and of itself. Also, in the end, I'm not sure, is helped by the format of this book - the patterns and historical debate two are almost completely separate pieces, and the knitter who do not read, the first half is that finally to see patterns that titled get "Celtic Designs" and concluded that, if a book called "Aran Knitting" contains a section called "Celtic Designs", then surely Celtic knitting and Aran knit directly related.

(Also, I'm a geographer and not even in this book it always seems a card show where everyone going this story.)(Respect the power of the cards, yo, help.)

I think a few technical notes on the patterns - fully that well, as Alice star more editable's reputation for accuracy and detail precedes well you, and the charts are is definitely skewed sizing, take towards slender body these sweaters with several inches ease to look at women with sizes above 42 bust or to change are the pattern to complete müssen.Und finally using Alice star Moreton's written special yarns and clear details the yarn (i.e. yardage per weight) are not included in the book, so if you want to replace yarns for the project, consider that determines a few minutes of the thought process to your yarns are match fairs and so on.

I hope that Star Moreton's books in your publication is a collection of patterns bleiben.Als fantasy pays, active in knitters and as sources of knowledge will do very little good sitting gathering dust in scarce some libraries and Archive.Wissen must circulate, otherwise it will be lost.

A new dress for the holidays (vogue 8685)

On the photo:

Dress: Vogue 8685 in red knit Ponte

Scarf: Made by me, no pattern

Jacket: Ann Taylor, thrifted

Tights: H & M

Shoes: Impo

I think to resist me not in the position, the lure of the red and green come Christmas.  The year's dress was with vogue 8685 and knit a red Ponte from mood.  I felt very festive!

The dress pattern was very good draft - all the pieces together good fit, and the instructions were very clear.  Having said that, I have a few small quibbles.  First of all, the pattern for the binding calls sewing, then reflect inward and sew it down.  There is no way to knit - and this is not even a serious Ponte!  I left the neckline is turned outward, and on the armholes whipstitched I only the edges to the edges of the finished Corsair (it makes more sense, if you can see the pattern.)

It was a problem with the rock - due to the form the yoke, it was necessary to trim over 2 inches on the pages.  In any case the rock above line hang let you have to repair.  I think this is the first time I've ever had a rock, the real transformation required!  I used the hem marker on my dress form for the first time.

I like this dress, but I have a comment — I'm not really convinced that the shape of the bottom yoke is so flattering.  I took the best photo for my vanity, but it does highlight a trend, an imbalance in your figure.  Ideal for hourglasses, be careful, but if you have another form.  I prefer a dress which out - this torches becomes almost a dropped waist.

The scarf was super easy-I have several for Christmas gifts!  It is cut, sewn into a tube, rotated and closed by hand 22? by 2yards basically only a length of fabric.  Was very easy and good this year.

I hope everyone who celebrates had a nice holiday.  With my husband's parents we spent Christmas in Cincinnati.  I cantored mass of a beautiful old Catholic Church (one of my best friends is the Minister who are music and worship.

Dear old things that covers old churches.  Last week my Chamber Choir was their advent concert in a beautiful old downtown Church in Louisville, and this week I have to sing in this one.  I always love to see all the details in the old designs - churches now feel so sterile to me!

I have some fun end of year posts scheduled.  I have some shopping at fabric sales end year – already I am my spring sew schedule (this is normal for me-after Christmas, I'm too tired winter get.)  (Here's hoping for an early spring!)

Season's programmes greetings to you all (photo by Marc and I with a view of the skyline of Cincinnati on Christmas Eve to ground).

November 15th: A lumberjack PJ party

Dress: Simplicity 2443

Flannel shirt:Aerie

Tights:Hot Sox

 Boots:Crocs

   Belt:  Forever 21

I was in high school during the grunge era, and I thought, I had seen how much Plaid flannel than I ever wanted to see in my life.  Yesterday I was buying at TJ maax tights (you have some large patterned tights right now), when I found this Plaid Pajama top at distance. For $5 I thought I could make it work as regular top and I was right!I was going to try it as a tunic, but it's not quite long enough - and it really fits my hips either, so it is best unbuttoned (as above) or hidden (so I can make undone the last button.)I more casual look rolled sleeves a high, to him.

To my surprise, I like this look!Ruffles do it differently than the plaid of my youth and the Green is my absolute favorite color (I had dyed my hair this weekend so I colors really with the Red go wearing m, while it is light.)My husband is a few years older than me what really liked him college age during the 90's flannel and he this look at mich.Er suggested I needed some Doc Martens, but I told him, I who would leave him.

I bought some Buffalo Plaid Poplin from fabric.com, and I plan to use it, similar to a tunic this (minus ruffles but with a drawstring waist I have both a McCall simplicity pattern that would fit.)The dress I wear above which is much more versatile than I thought - it works as follows, and I also think it with a blouse under as need a jumper to tragen.Ich to the hem resew - it came loose, the last time, I washed the dress.

So I'm Plaid train definitely back on that and you should many Plaid expect a great projects and outfits this winter!

Military shirt dress: before and after

One of my Thrifting expeditions recently I came across a military style shirt dress.  It was a good quality brand (Talbot,) a beautiful silk super shabby.  It seemed almost unworn. The hidden clasp at the waist (a nice feature in a shirt dress mine gape it!) family house and I was hope that is not why it was donated (although I wouldn't be surprised to sew, based on the number of requests from friends and family for me buttons be.)  Here is the before shot:

As you, not so cute to see.  This is actually a size 10 petite.  I last, I wear a 6 in Talbot and 2 sizes is no bad change.  And petite is always better because the shoulders on a petite are tend to be narrow.   My inspiration was this dress from Anthro this fall:

I reduced the dress of 4 inches (actually too much...) (I'd take a really small hem!) I reduced the sleeves and took 2 inch width of each side of the sleeve to the waist.  The rock part originally had a slot, the I-sewn.  Changed that hang from the rock enough, I needed to customize it.  The waist is elastic and it's meant with a belt worn so I set the waist at all.  It was made by the fact that the rock was lined a little more complicated.  I wanted to look nice, so I removed carefully all the seams and made a nice, neat new hem in both.  The results?

I'm from, how it came to really happy with - it is very much in vogue, and you'd never guess that there is a $2.50 thrift store was purchase!  I think I have close to my inspiration.  The only differences are the sleeves (I wanted shorter sleeves, and although I made I ended up a tab rather shorter, lined sleeves) and the belt - I dislike fabric bindings, and prefer a beautiful, elastic elastic belt.  This project ended costs about $5 (I had to buy matching thread!) and took me to complete a night.

Here is how it actually wear today (it's a cold!)

Details:

Sweater: 525 America, this is definitely my favorite sweater this year.  Love the shawl collar!

Belt: Forever 21

Boots: Nine West

Friday randomness

Know what you are saying - best laid plans and all!  Again, I'm working on something in my November plans.  Was in my defense, my black knit back ordered and canceled and I'm waiting for my cord (UPS says it is "Out for delivery") that is in my experience, it will not turn tonight… til 7 pm I think we must be the last stop on the UPS guy's route.

This is a kind of matte Charmeuse satin, polyester, of course, but I want to test this dress in a cost-effective fabric before in silk:

This is a Cynthia Steffe design looks the winter vogue Muster.Es not too complicated but I want to see how looks back on me.  I can throw it at the end, but I'm not sure yet.

Butterick published your winter patterns this week.  Because you are back as I mentioned yesterday in my favor, I'm glad more for "Clothes need to sew".  Here are my picks:

I like both these Maggy London clothes.  Traffic safety on the Ponte dress (on right) are really interesting.  Love the full skirt and high waist of the second dress!

New retro patterns! The dress on the left is a large full bypass holiday dress (calls for Shantung, Taft etc …i think it in silk taffeta!)I would shorten the rock. The dress on the right side it very nice, but I would lower that front neck, the back to spiegeln.Haben it up on the website made, and it is one of vintage styles where the neckline looks oddly proportioned (too high for a square neck) to modern eyes.I not good at this kind of neck, it must be only one or two inches deep.

Finally, I like these two line pattern that I would between tunic and dress cut length and wear with leggings (I find that if you are a little pear shaped you need longer to tunics so you you cut your widest part not.)And check out this rock - very anthropology E Yes? I love traffic safety but I wish, had made it up so I could see it!

(I like the other new Ponte dress (Colorblocked for a slimming effect)), and there is a cute jacket (although not my favorite... and I economy jackets like.)Overall, it's a very strong collection and I will be picking this up when you go on sale.

Today I am a dinner with my in-laws (MIL is in town for a Conference) and getting my hair dyed (finally!)Hopefully I can sew in some fit!

11-26-2010: Thoughts on fashion

Dress: Thrifted and consumer groups/changed

Velvet jacket: Express, circa 2005

Tights: DKNY (via TJMaxx)

Boots: Nine West outlet

Lately I've been much change / adapt thrifted dress done.  I took the fashion wardrobe challenge last year, although I really not much reworking then.  It is only since decide that I myself in pants as not, I started that to hardcore about my thrifted items will work.  Before I started sewing I had literally three clothes in my closet.  I've worked hard to create a wardrobe, I'm feeling good about me - before, I had too many clothes, which I in has hidden!

Sometimes I tell someone about this hobby and I met am "Oh, but changes are hard!" often the answer or "I wouldn't know how to visualize a new look!"  I'm here to tell you that you can do it!  I was also afraid, changes after I to sew for me took (I know, crazy!)  One day I forced myself to sit and just try it works - and to my surprise it was not difficult, it was really fun!

Most of the changes I make are not difficult.  Would you like the short dress?  Select a new hem and hack it!  You will need always to hand hem - I am the rock above 50%, depending on the style.  Some rope, I don't use even a seam because you will not be ravel!  Hem is probably my most frequent change.  I like my skirts right above the knee, a change that is often a dress from Dowdy to fabulous accepts.  I think everyone has a magical hem length - that works almost always for you.  For some people it's right below the knee, others shorter than mine.  You can perhaps convince me heck, about a mid-calf hem.  If magic find length takes you, there are some which lined the guesswork.

My second is common change that take in the side seams.  I want to buy a dress or skirt up to 3 sizes too big.  In fact, if too big always more secure than too small to it does not attempt (or it will not... was madness in thrift store today with a 50% off sale clothing on!)  Greater than a 2-3 inch change and you find design problems, although I have seen some ladies really make it work (see: new dress a day.)

And on a great dress?  Belts are magical.  Ernst.  Let me tell you about the dress in today's outfit.  I bought it last Sunday.  It is faded glory is a Wal-Mart brand.  Usually I avoid Wal-Mart clothing because the quality is terrible, but I go this, as it was 100% cotton and Plaid!  When I got it inside out, I realized, it was awful sewn - lose serger thread all over the place exposed elastic in the sleeves, half of the hem machine, which for some reason etc. in thread sewn.  It had a really sad little even fabric belt that was actually stitched on the dress twisted (perhaps why it has been donated?)  I removed the belt and belt loops - I like my wide belt, and these loops would not a bit of help!  Then I loosened the hem and restitched it with a more appropriate thread color.  I have to dress to shorten time.  I took in the seams of total 2 inches (so I seams the side seams 1/2 inches in from the the Serged Seams on each side.)  I left the sleeves, alone, because you small tracks.  After that it was not exactly equipped but it's not the kind of dress - time for belting!

I used the a large case belt phobia have.  It has some intensive therapy to cure myself required!  I recommend trying all kinds of belts.  I like too cheap buy forever 21 is my favorite!  Might thrifted but I have the best luck to find decent shape.  I prefer elastic secured belt, but that's a personal issue I find easier to sing.  I also think that I like really wide belt, and I want a bit higher than my waist belt.  Experiment with different types and wide, wear you in different places, and you find what works for you!

I wear today three different shades of purple.  We went to a second Thanksgiving to my in-laws and my MIL loves purple.  It is to one of my favorite colors.  We have seen my niece (live in Wisconsin - the last time I saw was not you who still speak, and today, you knew that my name!)  Spent you throughout the evening shows the sign of a Fashionista on my Tights… perhaps in training?  Or simply that you like purple more likely!

I hope some of you, some changes to try inspired feel.  I haven't touched on more complicated changes, but I will later on!  I'll start taking before photos of my refashions and hopefully I can give a little inspiration.  I know that all the fabulous refashions online a been great help for me!

Plaid Shirt dress: Take two vogue 8028,

Pattern: Vogue 8028m view a

Website: 3 M routes Plaid shirting of the fabric.com (still available)

It is rare that I am impressed with the urge to do something twice – there are so many patterns in my queue and so little time!  But after my this pattern use first shirt dress, I felt still like another.  I bought this shirting because of the color (I love green and it is more Emerald than it looks on my monitor.)  I had planned to make a tunic, but after I I knew my shirt dress that only a dress that could just be Plaid!  Such of check box Buffalo Plaid is in style right now.  I like it - it is less than a more traditional Plaid speckled.  The only negative point is that the matching thread is impossible.  I stopped most of the quilting because there was simply no way to get it look good.

The sleeves were cut on the bias and I shine through on the buttonholes fabric connectivity over and over so I wouldn't get white.  The dress that could possibly a bit smaller in the Corsair but I tend to winter on the larger page err.  It is 2 inches longer when I plan the lace dress-, it sometimes wear without tights, and so I wanted to knee length.  I had trouble with the collar, - I forgot that even at first glance, and had to rip back to wrap the seams.  Then get I could stay there in the village to the quilting, but I finally solved this problem using a Gluestick to glue the collar down in front seams - I read that somewhere and it's a great tip!

I love this dress I definitely about the shirt dress this winter.  And I am very proud my Plaid matching - you can say that it in the front in these photos buttons!

Speaking of Elizabeth Zimmerman (book review)

I did a bit of Elizabeth Zimmerman knitting lately, so I was looking at a single extra support, commemorative Edition for a book review. The Knitter's Almanac, sent me a revised copy of the folks at Dover in full colour hard back form for an autumn 2010 release on the occasion of the 100th birthday revived (or 100th, would have today alive were). It is a beautiful Edition and consideration, I would say, especially during the gift season quickly approaches.

The patterns here are identical to those in the original edition of the Knitter's Almanac (published 1974) found and included a few favorites like the PI scarf (I'm currently working on and begin to see end), closing mittens, and even a pattern knit leggings (or "nether robe") in a few moments I casting on for think because seriously, hand knitting leggings. Total ordered what winter up. (Possibly: extreme motivation to never gain weight and maintain current forever size.)

There are a few new things in this issue that notably the inclusion of photographs (many new total) of finished items that is a remarkable change most of the black and white photos and could also help, many knitters show these patterns in a modern context. Another reason is that transaction capable of adjusted free online pattern for the "February Lady sweater," that you could find useful in printed form only in the event that you already living under a rock and have not found one of the thousands of online knitters who already have a knitted this.

I only recently came to the discovery of, who was Elizabeth Zimmerman and what your contributions to the rope world as were. My own life knitting has happened in a world that includes your living presence. And so what I like most about the revised edition, adding a Foreword written by Meg Swansen (Elizabeth Zimmerman's daughter), an introduction by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee (The Yarn Harlot) and a letter to Elizabeth Zimmerman of Barbara Walker, both in praise of Elizabeth and you write. Because the course only pattern was not you, in writing, penned in knitters to trust and self-assertion bring your knitting life.

So, while the book itself until a little in this commemorative edition in a more engaging and more robust Hardcover Edition has been glitzed, the purpose is quite the same as it always has been. I prefer like Stephanie in their introductory described: "my own love knitting and my conviction that it was smart and worthy are reflected in these pages." "I believed then, and I think now that so much more, is knitting as it seems so much more than the sum of its parts."

Thanks Elizabeth! And happy 100th birthday.

Book review: Vampire knits

So, I'm finally finished my classification and now move to frenetic packing, cleaning up and collect ALL the knitting, take you with me (I can 5 projects before 2011, stop right?), before leaving on a bus tomorrow for a number of 2-or-3-days-at-a-time-in-one-place also known as the Christmas holidays. Which will be great but then, it's the packaging. (Also I would like to say thanks to readers Becky, who thought that if I said I was rating classification knitting designs for sizes in a written pattern compared to exams and essays, which is what I did, actually I meant.) (Granted, I would preferably probably the patterns, I think.)

Of course, I thought this a good time to the last my reviews 2010 was finished. Because if otherwise you would sit down, and clear some careful consideration for blog readers curious knitting books? Now, while crazy gift shopping season, of course! (Unless of course, you all shop your gift have.) In this case, I have some errands to run if you do anything.)

Vampire Warp knits me presented, with a challenge a bit. On the one hand I love vampire stories. Buffy the vampire of Slayer? Absolute. Dracula? Yes, bring on the Gothic. True blood? Now, the books which certainly read decent commuter I will say that much. And I am big time to support the knit fans. Heck, a lot of my recent design repertoire of fans was inspiration. Viper pilots socks, anyone? The quality will I work on a Buffy-inspired collection of mittens and gloves. I have my own Ravenclaw scarf knitted and love the fact that there are thousands of knitters who have found your entrance into the world of knitting by you your own Harry Potter House scarf. Knitting to the fans, I'm on the whole.

On the other hand, which makes this particular pattern collection author no bones about his directly not so much of vampire inspired texts in General, but by the twilight series of novels and movies, specially (there are patterns motifs for pillows, the spelling "team Jacob", or "team Edward." with inlays letter). I absolutely hate the anime series. Come on people, as if it not bad enough that it swarms of young people leveling past actual literature to Stephanie Meyer's books in the order of millions and billions of dollars, it makes me to think that there are enough people stories EVAR OMG now and have not even given BtVS a fair shake, because, okay, fine, makeup and production were pretty crappy values in season 1, that cries as the best vampire of twilight up operation. I think you should at least be going off Dracula but since you are not read, probably do that the least, what you could do is watch all of season 2. And 3. And 5. And the last 2 slices of season 7. And the musical episode. And the calm episode. And you know the whole series.

: Cough: but I digress.

I must say all in all, this is a decent set of patterns. The cover sweater that - hooded Cardigan from Cirilia rose, is getting a lot of attention for good reason - it's 'Lore' effective but not overly intimidating knit sweater in bulky wool (Peruvia fast) that looks quite comfortable. And most of the pattern as that are really. When you search pattern for a set of intermediate for someone who might not otherwise inspired to knit but vampire like things, or someone who like things but this book might not have purchased vampire worth.

I like this "under the cover of midnight" cowl Hood (below), a chunky wired knit, that looks very cozy and stylish. And enticing given current chill in the air.

The bloody socks, above, are also quite accessible for someone new to sock knitting, essentially a cuff down heel flap sock with a simple design for front below. (Although I think to make head ankle scratch you socks especially when comes the selected yarn in 420 yds strands.) Easier removing most of the leg you? (I don't know.)

All in all is a collection which meant a few patterns for men, including a sweater and a few scarves with especially for women. There are sweaters, shrugs, caps, gloves, socks and accessories - even a corset. Yarns used in the examples mostly section of knit are picks or Bernat LOUET and Berroco. And where it is justified, there are a number of sizes. Scope is the cover sweater, for example, up to 48 bust.

So if you are looking for some fun for a vampire fan which would or could sink the teeth knitting, this offer would be just fine. And at the end of the day, something that helps, more people appreciate fine knitting with me.

Stay tuned if I will be offering this book and one from my earlier reviews more than a blog giveaway for the new year! And as usual, knit close!

Christmas trees and red dresses

I'm not really one to decorate for the holidays.  We host typically each holiday meetings and to be honest I am quite scroogey throughout the season (I'm only a Christmas service, for a friend who lives in Cincinnati to many years of work for Acoming this year.)  This year we will keep a small party, so I'd actually have to dig out my Christmas things.  Fortunately my mother loves Christmas, but things, tired, so we have tons of decorations from it.  We have no large Christmas tree (and nowhere a set) so I instead two small set:

The first tree is in the dining room.  Note the LEGO death start ornament in the front!  And why Yes, that's a hot pink Christmas tree with hot pink lights.  It is actually on the piano sit (piano is closed, and I almost never quite open.)  (It is a blanket, fall to stop scratches)

Yes, it's kind of tacky, but if you can become tacky Christmas, when can you? This is my piano Studio and I don't know my students appreciate the kitschy structure!  And in fact little disco balls are collected around the base.    Because we live in a Victorian house gift people me often "Victorian Christmas" style things.  It's not my style at all, even stuffy and the colors are also dark.  It's definitely a constant challenge to decorate the House - the woodwork tends to dominate everything, and I gently be not to go too modern (I love modern furniture, but it looks wrong here... the scale is too small.)  My goal is to just my personality shine through it even though it is sometimes quite noisy.  It works for me!

To go along with the theme of holiday I am a red dress with vogue 8685 make.

I am a red knit Ponte using, which I bought in mood.  To be honest, it is a bit more of a cherry red as I prefer - I with my hair in a very blue tinted red wines collision work.  This one is not too bad though, and it will be nice for Christmas!  The pattern has a lot of pieces based on the yoke, but it looks not very difficult to make.  I have it, cut and ready this week sewing (between the hectic house cleaning - I many who never should have seen my house and I like to get the illusion that I am very good at dusting!)
